Yesterday, our group held a critique session with Celina and all the artists participating in the residency. We shared our ideas for the residency, which allowed us to see the diverse range of work and practices that everyone is pursuing. Critiques are invaluable to me, as they provide an opportunity to determine whether my concepts and thoughts resonate with others. Given that my work will be exhibited in both Malaysia and Manchester, it is crucial that I ensure my art is visually translatable across cultures. Overall, it was a thoughtful sharing experience that gave me new insight into my fellow artists’ approaches.
Now that I’ve started planning my photo shoots, it’s time to find models and construct set designs. Although I’ve never built a set before, I want to push beyond my comfort zone for this project and try something new.
